March Newsletter - Monaghan's (3/9), R Park (3/15), Kennett Italian Club (3/28) & the musical "State Fair"
Sedated Friends and Fans,
A very busy month ahead for us, with 3 shows
plus support to the musical "State Fair". It's also St. Patrick's
month and we'll be brushing off our full repertoire of Irish songs for Monaghan's Irish Pub (3/9) and The R Park Tavern (3/15). Additionally we return to the Kennett Italian Club (3/29), and start a multi-weekend run supporting the pit orchestra for Rodgers & Hammerstein's "State Fair",
being produced by the Rose Valley Chorus & Orchestra. Here are the
details on each of these shows and we hope you make it out to some and to enjoy.
- Sun. March 9 (2:00-5:00) - "Slightly Unplugged" Duo at Monaghan's Irish Pub, Essington, PA (https://www.monaghanspub.com/)
John
and Steve return for a Sunday afternoon "Unplugged" acoustic show,
which means a good chance for you to enjoy our music along with some
"day drinking" at our favorite Irish pub. In prep for St.
Patrick's day, we'll be playing 2-3 Irish songs per set, so wear the
green and come out for some good craic.
Monaghan's is the coziest Irish Pub in Delco with the biggest and most delicious pub grub menu you'll ever experience. With Wings, Sliders, Steaks, Hoagies, Flatbreads and a long list of appetizers, and they
also feature a number of local craft brews on tap from Troegs, Victory
Brewing, Golden Road, 2SP and Guinness (of course). We often stay after our show just to eat at Monaghan's. Full Menu and directions are available at https://www.monaghanspub.com/.
- Sat. March 15 (7:00-10:00) - Full Band at The R Park Tavern - Ridley Park, PA (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100076206070900)
For
St. Patrick's weekend, the R Park will be a great spot to catch our
versions of some Dropkick Murphys songs as well as "Whisky in the Jar",
2 different versions of "Galway Girl", "Danny Boy", "The Irish Rover"
and of course our original "The Slightly Irish Drinking Song". We'll also dish out lots
of Tom Petty as we morph into Delco's premiere Tom Petty
tribute band.
One
of Delco's hidden treasures, the R Park Tavern is a friendly and cozy
neighborhood tavern with a delicious and varied pub grub menu that the
locals rave about. The "R Park" is easy to get to, located
on Sellers Ave., just minutes from I-95 (Stewart Ave. exit). "R
Park" stands for Ridley Park of course, and we're hoping many of our
Delco friends can make it out to enjoy the R Park hospitality,
conviviality, food and drink, and our music.
- Sat. March 29 (7:00-11:00) - Full Band at The Italian American Citizen's League, Kennett Square, PA (https://iaclkennett.com/)
After a short hiatus, we'll be returning to the Kennett Square Italian
Club, which has become "the place to go for those in the
know". Great food, a music loving crowd, pool tables, and
an extra long shuffleboard table allow their members to party or chill,
and it's always a fun time. If you are not a member, but you are
a "Slightly Sedated Fan" you are welcome to attend.
- Various dates (3/29 thru 4/6) - Rose Valley Chorus & Orchestra's production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "State Fair" at Strath Haven Middle School, Wallingford, PA (https://www.rvco.org/)
State Fair features
an Academy Award-winning score by Rodgers and Hammerstein, including
“It Might as Well Be Spring”, “A Grand Night For Singing” and “Our
State Fair” and the Rose Valley Chorus and Orchestra's production is
community theater at it's finest. Based at the Iowa State Fair in
1946, the show will transport you to another time & place.
Dates, times and tickets are available on the RVCO website at https://www.rvco.org/.
So mark those calendars for Monaghan's (3/9) and/or The R Park (3/15) and/or the Italian Club (3/29) and/or the musical "State Fair" . We would love to see you.
